Libbie’s story | Denver and COVID
Today I would like to introduce you to a Denver friend, Libbie Glick. Libbie’s story took us through some interesting discussions, focused on her role as a city planner. Enjoy.
“It just got so quiet. Especially being in such a big city. I mean I work for the city, there isn’t really any traffic on the streets. Which, for those of us that have lived in Denver— we are not LA— but people definitely complain a lot about traffic here. ”

The impact on the environment— Denver often has a brown cloud... you can clearly see smog above it. So that has been really cool. And just seeing people out in the neighborhood. I’ve actually gotten to meet more neighbors with covid because people are home all the time and people are sitting on their porches, more people are out walking. That’s been a fun aspect to see in the city”
“So I’m a city planner, we are shutting down streets to allow for bicycles...closing parking lots for restaurants to expand. So from a planning perspective, it’s been really cool. planners have wanted to do this stuff for a while but we get push back because people want their cars... but now that we have to do it. ”
UPDATE OCTOBER 1 | I've chosen a picture of chocolate chip cookies for my artifact and the associated recipe. Adam and I started out COVID trying to find the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. After trying several recipes that were just okay, I found this one that I think is pretty darn good.
Reviews of said chocolate chip cookies:
"These cookies are great!" -our landscaper's daughter
"These are delicious!" -me

When my husband and I do our bike trips in Sundays, there’s so many people out biking— all ages. You feel safer because there’s less cars on the road.
The quietness of downtown is definitely a little eerie. There’s still a large homeless population. So figuring out where there are some safe places for people to gather who don’t have homes
